Based in Beaverton, Oregon and market leader in sports footwear and apparel , the giant employs more than 70,000 world-wide, with 1400 jobs reported to go.

Nike reports it will focus more on digital sales, via its apps, and on the hits among its extensive range, cutting apparel and footwear models by about 25 percent.

Chief Executive Mark Parker is widely reported as saying “the moves will help us offer more products to customers faster – we’re getting even more aggressive in the digital marketplace.”
