Hills and more hills: cyclists battle it out

Hills and more hills: cyclists battle it out

More than 700 obsessive cyclists participated in the three-day Velothon Sunshine Coast - pedaling through scenery almost as stunning as that of the concurrent Tour de France.

The three day over this past weekend ride covered 355 kms with 5091 metre climbs.

The route included bush tracks, many steep hills and wide views with Melbourne's Sean Vintin and Brisbane's Rachel Effeney ultimately victorious.

Organisers have already claimed the July 2018 dates - Ironman operates a global portfolio of events that includes triathlon series, Iron Girl, Ironkids, International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series races, road cycling events, mountain bike races and marathons.

Velothon Sunshine Coast is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of the It's Live! in Queensland events calendar.
