Implus lands with new brands
US-headquartered Implus LLC will deal direct with retailers following its acquisition of Global Leisure Concepts.
The major international sporting goods and footcare company supplies many of the world’s largest retailers across USA, Europe and Asia, and is based in North Carolina.
The deal follows a growing trend of international brands recognising the potential of Australia’s retail market, says David Jackson, who becomes general manager of Implus Australia. “Our business will continue to trade as before, with the same Melbourne location and all staff,” he says. “We will still distribute non-Implus brands including Wham-O, Rawlings, Toysmith, Mueller and TRX.”
Integration into Implus International over the next couple of months will also see a change of name. As key shareholders, he and Stephen Brown will remain in management roles with the new subsidiary, and they thanked members of the Australian trade for their on-going support.
Implus plans to expand the current operation over the next 12 months to include more brands within its portfolio. “Our historical success in Australia has largely been tied to that of our distributors,” said Implus chief executive Seth Richards. “When the chance arose to join forces with one of our strongest partners, we saw this as a ‘win-win’ for us and our retailer customers.”
• Implus’ brand family includes Sof Sole®,ForceField™, Balega®, Yaktrax®, apara®, Airplus®, Sneaker Balls®, Sof Comfort®, Little Hotties®, Penguin®,Perfect Fitness®, ICETrekkers®, FitDeck®, DryGuy®, TriggerPoint®, Harbinger®, FuelBelt®, and Spenco®.
