Windley heads up Sfida Group teamAfter more than 12 years on the retail side of the sports industry fence, Gordon Windley is back in wholesale and delighted to be there.
He has been appointed General Manager of Melbourne-based Sfida Group and began his new role last week, “straight into the deep end and it is great to be back,” he says.
Windley (pictured right with Sfida Group Sales Manager Shawn Koralewski) began his sports industry career in Brisbane in sales with Reebok agent Michael Meehan Agencies in 1988, and moved to True Alliance with the brand in 1993, rising to Qld state manager role.
Then in 2004 Windley joined Associated Retailers Limited, as product manager /Division Manager in the sports division (which includes SportsPower and Sportscene groups).
After six years, he transferred his skills to the menswear and footwear divisions and ended his career there in May as general manager TCF division and group development manager, as ARL under went a strategic restructure of the business.
Says Windley, “I had a great time at ARL and learned a lot. Now I am ready for the challenges and opportunities presented by the Sfida Group. My immediate focus will be on clear communication, team work and to drive sales through quality valued merchandise.
“Sfida’s brands fill a strong niche in the fast-and-furious retail market and I am excited by the future,” he says.
