ASGA welcomes Julie Stevanja on boardNew retail member of the ASGA board is Julie Stevanja, founder and chief executive of online retailer Stylerunner.
She replaces Terry Dopper who is leaving his role at ARL to join the family business.
Executive Director of the Australian Sporting Goods Association , Shannon Walker says, “With the growth in online sporting and active lifestyle goods retailing, the board is pleased to welcome Julie Stevanja as a director of ASGA.
“Her knowledge of the sector and experience in launching and leading a truly global online active wear retailer will be a great asset to the board and to the industry.”
She co-founded and launched Stylerunner as the first global women’s pure-play active wear aggregator in 2012, which has now shipped to over 100 countries. The online store which curates more than 70 sportswear brands, has a cult social media following of over half a million fans.
In 2015, Stylerunner was listed in the BRW Fast Starter and the Deloitte Tech 50 Rising Star lists, and in April Stevanja won the Young Retail Entrepreneur of the Year at the World Retail Awards. She was also a finalist in CEO Magazine’s Startup Executive of the Year and Veuve Clicquot’s New Generation Award.
The ASGA board needs to appoint another retail director and Walker says he will be speaking to members about this opportunity, adding “While Terry Dopper was on the board of ASGA for a short time, he has been a friend of the organisation for many years and a leading light in the sporting goods sector in Australia for decades. He will be missed.”
