She succeeds co-founder and former Executive Director, Craig Hill, who will continue to support the ASTN on special projects, including trade missions, the Sports Tech Start-up content playbook and mentoring for selected start-ups.

Says ASTN Chair, James Demetriou, “Piastri is one of the nation’s experienced sports management professionals including broad experience across leading sports and unparalleled expertise in participation systems, technology strategy and operational execution.”

Demetriou says the board believes that Piastri will continue to move the ASTN forward, “increasing our national exposure and positioning, while utilising her strong network” to further grow the sports technology ecosystem in Australia.

As an ASTN board member, her notes report “Rachel has over 20 years of sport digital, participation and product experience at NSO’s including Tennis, Cricket, Golf, Gymnastics and Netball.

“Rachel is passionate about the sports technology industry and is determined to drive change through increased capability, collective focus and collaboration to ensure the sector continues to hold a leading position globally.

Piastri said she felt privileged to be awarded this leadership role and is excited about the opportunities the role presents.

“My aim is to increase the collective success achieved across Australian Sport and ensure we remain a strong industry body supporting innovation and growth across the Australian sports technology ecosystem which already includes over 500 Australian sports technology companies.”

“Australian sport is globally recognised as innovative and leading edge and our Australian sports technology ecosystem is no exception,” she says.
